Monday Madness

Hey friend,

I was just reading about the history of Rome and how one’s actions defined the history of their bloodline, not their words but actions.

I realise we used to judge people by their deeds.

What they built. What they showed up for.

What they did when nobody was watching.

Now we judge people by their words.

Their opinions. Their posts. Their carefully worded captions.

And that's a problem, because words are cheap.

Deeds cost something.

Time. Effort. Discomfort. Risk.

Anyone can post about discipline.

Very few people actually wake up at 5 AM for ninety days straight.

Anyone can have an opinion about hard work.

Very few people sit alone in a room building something nobody asked for yet.

Here's what I now live by…

I don't trust what people say about themselves anymore. I watch what they do.

Someone tells me they're focused. I watch their progress.

Someone tells me they're loyal. I watch how they talk about people who aren't in the room.

This applies to how you judge others. It also applies to how you judge yourself.

Stop asking what you believe about yourself.

Start asking what you actually do.

Do you call yourself disciplined, or are you actually disciplined?

Do you call yourself a good friend, or do you actually show up?

Do you call yourself someone who's building something, or are you actually doing the work today, this week, this month?

The words don't matter. The pattern of action does.

So this week, try something. Say less about who you are.

Just go be it.

Big Hug

Abi
